Hellllooooo let me introduce myself!

I know I've been gone a while, but I've been sick! Just laying on the couch, coughing, with a pounding head sick! I blame it on Allergies but I don't really know anymore. I still can cough like I've had too many cigarettes! Lovely picture huh?

I'm back today with a long list of things to do! Some from last week that never got done and plenty from this week to do! I love a good list to scratch things off of!

I have the dishwasher going now and the laundry already down stairs (thanks to G) .... So I need to get things really moving ....

Last Week's Round up!

Since I have taken a week off from blogging lets just do a simple round up of last week's news

**I subbed a couple of mornings

**Had a PEO luncheon (just confirmed that maybe we should change our luncheon place)

**Had PT just once last week. Seems my Therapist has a fun life with her family!?!

**W's truck has died. We're debating on whether it's permanently dead or if we'll PAY more $$ to relive it!?!

**I sort through G's summer clothes from last year. VERY very few things will fit this year! That boy is just getting taller, not much growth in width but TALLER!

**W's phone died (the night before his truck died). We gave the gift that keeps on giving by getting him a new phone for his birthday... that has yet to come!

On second thought maybe this isn't a round up at all.....I think it was a let the money roam post!

Monday Ramblings ~ everything

OK, there have been some note worthily things going on .....

**I didn't fair too well, after my long walk last weekend. I just think it's too soon to be jarring this shoulder! Heavy Sigh! I'll still on to the walk, but will do what I can on a shorter route. I've not mentally wrapped my mind around this yet, but when my body dictates I have to listen! Maybe things will change once I get to the point that I work on strengthening all these muscles. I have hope!

**I subbed 2 mornings last week. The first one, I just about froze! When I left I told the office that I believe this was the coldest room I'd ever been in!! That's when they told me that the janitor had just discovered the AC was on in that room! The next morning I was subbing in Preschool! That's always fun! Yea, I get paid to monitor play dough play!

**I worked through my taxes yesterday and this morning in order to get the FAFSA done.

**It snowed again! a couple of inches, but by this time of this year.... who cares?

**Our big TV went out!?!? That's bad for the boys, that's the TV they watched. I had the satellite man (who we called since the satellite wasn't' working) switch the satellite to the upstairs little TV. Now the combination of the TV, couch and electric warming blanket are just an invitation to a nap!

Monday Ramblings ~ Camera Purge

My camera doesn't talk to my computer!?! Both work great independently of each of they just can't get it together (it's a union thing I'm sure!). Most of the pictures I post here are from my phone, but I do still take pictures with my camera and when I have time I put the memory card in Hubby's laptop, download the pictures then burn a disc and move them in to my computer! Not a horrible process but still a process!

Here are some great shots from the latest Camera Purge ...

G's New Year's Party ~

The boys at Midnight
(Just after their fireworks)
Twister!

Obviously I'm not the only one taking pictures ~

Ya, I created that
or should I say I gave birth to that!
He created THAT!
Outside my Bedroom Window ~

What you can't see is the Cat lurking around the tree!
My animals love me! ~

Last month I was hanging the last set of new curtains in my bedroom. When I started there wasn't anyone outside the window. By the time I finished they were both there, with their tail wagging!

Random things and Snow

*finally Good news on the medical/financial end of things. W has some gum receeding on a couple of teeth. Our dentist thought it was a condition that happens to people that have had braces and sent him to a Periodonist. If needed the Periodonist would do a small skin graft to the area. NOT NEEDED! The Periodonist thought the receeding was from gritting and clinching his teeth and thought the dentist could just fit him for a mouth piece to keep this from progressing. For once something that didn't require alot of money and surgery to fix!
Maybe 2011 will be our year for good health!

*I signed up to walk my 1/2 marathon. The date is rapidly approaching! PANIC! If you're interested in this, it's all on the workout blog!

*G's Basketball season has started up. They start up really before Christmas break, but it's just one practice and one game then the break so it just doesn't seem right. Now they've started up for good! They lost their first game by quite a bit. G plays with 5th & 6th graders. There is a big difference between 5 grade boys and 6 grade boys in size and talent! G is the smallest player that I've seen thus far. He got knocked around quite a bit but he didn't seem to mind. He didn't mind until Sunday morning when he was sore all over!

*it snowed Monday morning and all day. I don't know how much is out there, but enough. They never cancel school in our district, but they did Monday and Tuesday. I was surprised, since we'd gone in much worst weather in the pass. I suppose it was cancelled since they now have so many walkers.

* I'm creating and teaching a lesson at church in February. I think it will be on HOPE and JOY. Just wish it was already written!

*I will not watch the Bachelor this time! I will NOT, I WILL NOT! I've already watched this guy, he had his chance and he blew it! I WILL NOT WATCH!

* It's cold. This morning when I got up (around 7) the thermostat was -0.4. They say tomorrow will be much colder! If they cancelled for walkers (which I don't know if that was the reason I just speculate) then why don't they cancel for sub zero temperature?

Saturday's update

This past week ....
*We watched it rain
*We watched it rain
and We watched it rain

OK, get the drift it rained all week

I suppose the highlight of week was for G. He went to a birthday party to a HUGE water park. Yes they got rained on for a short while but then got to enjoy the park on cloudy day. G enjoyed it so much that all he can talk about now is how he's going back SOON!

As for an update on Hubby, let's see he's watched about a million hours of' TV. I'm sure he's watch a billion people die and then their assassins be brought to justice. They're having a free month of foreign and Independent movies this month so now he can watch people die on a lower budget and foreign people die!

He has also watched every World Cup game (not just this week but for the past month), the long hours (agonizing to me) of the golf tourney at Pebble beach, the longest match at Wimbledon, not to mention other lesser moments in sports! I've also found him watching a Madonna concert!?!

In an effort to not go crazy (with hubby's remote flipping) I've read 3 books over the past couple of weeks (look for their reviews coming soon).

Week Recap

**This week G started his swim lessons, these are a waste of time and money. Hubby thinks he should finish all the levels offered by the Red Cross, so we signed up. What Hubby doesn't realize is that Gabe can swim. AND swim REALLY REALLY well, after this session we're DONE!

**Took Hubby to the get blood work done on Monday and then to see the Doctors on Tuesday. We waited for over an hour to get into a room!?! Every thing looks fine, and please come back in 2 weeks! Music to our ears!
** I usually go with the "it's their hair and as long as it is 'shaped up' they can have it as long as they want it. Hubby goes with the shave it off philosophy! G was into having his way with his hair this summer. This week I told him it needed to shaped up... he said, "I want hair like Tim Howard." Music to hubby's ears...WHAT you don't know who Tim Howard is???

He's the goalie for the American World cup team! and notice the hair? or lack of it!

G is disappointed that I can't get his hair cut as close as Tim's!

G's instructions now ..
"just as long as it's shaggy for winter time, we're good."
**We've watched a Momma KillDeer for the past couple of weeks protect her 4 eggs

**I put hubby and G to work making a catapult this week!
I think they did a pretty good job, huh?

Ok, honestly I think hubby made the above while G worked on the below!?!

**and as ever there was constant game of living room soccer with both boys and sometime Megan! sigh....

No rest for the weary here!

I can't believe it has been a week since I last blogged. That would have never happened in the early days!

This weeks has been a blur, a week of progression but a blurr still the same....

Monday ~ at 8am I dropped G off to meet his ride to cub scout daycamp, drove to workout. Hubby was at home waiting for 8:30 to roll around so he could call the doctor about what time he was suppose to check in the hospital. I worked out with my phone, waiting and watching to see if I needed to leave ASAP! all of this seems funny now, since we know a few things about hospitals and their schedule ....never in a hurry. We finally got the call that hubby was suppose to check in at 12:30pm ..... he got into a room at 4:30pm. Yea, it took them that long to get a room ready for him. I'm just glad they didn't have us come in at 8:30am! Nothing happened at the hospital that day!

Tuesday ~ Hubby had his MRI, they read it wrong had to go back and re read it. They scheduled his surgery for 2:30, the next day. GREAT time I could stay home a few hours get things, like pay bills~ So this is Day #2 in the hospital and they only accomplished one thing an MRI, oh, and I guess schedule the surgery (but does that count, they didn't do it, they scheduled it) Slow I'm tellin' ya, SLOW!

Wednesday ~surgery day at 2:30 right? I'm at home doing laundry, running the dishwasher, paying bills when they call at 10:55am and say they're moving his surgery up to just before noon, could I get there? "NO, I live an hour away!" and I haven't showered from my workout (I'm not a flower after I've worked out). I tell them to go ahead do surgery without me. I rush and rush, cuz this is only suppose to be a 30 minute surgery and I could miss the doctor afterwards. Rush rush and when I get there they assign me a little elderly volunteer to show where the surgery waiting is, I've been rushing so long by this time that I have remember to slow down and wait for her to show me where to go! I walk into the surgery unit at 12:20 and there is hubby still waiting! Long story short, his surgery was done and was a success.

Thursday ~ I get a phone call from hubby early that says they aren't releasing him, because they want a certain Wound treatment in place for a day before they send him home and they'll be placing that on later in the day Thursday! THEN I get a phone call as I'm driving in from hubby that says, can you call the doctor's office and ask why they aren't putting the treatment on today. Confusion!?!? The doctor's office is right beside the hospital so I park where I can just walk through he doctor's building, stop and chat with them. They say it should be in place ASAP. I walk to hubby's room, and there is the hospital's wound nursing saying just the opposite. Now most of you have never seen my momma bear survival mode come out, but when I walked in and this nurse was saying what she was going to do (which was the exact opposite that the wound doctor had just said), Momma Bear came out! I didn't even stop to introduce myself I just told her she needed to stop and chat with the doctor. well, to make a long story short, the doctor's office asked me if I would mind if they gave my name and number to the director so I could tell my story to them. Seems this wound nurse has been under minding our wound doctor for the past month (that's as long as she's had the job). Seems to me if I've (well, hubby) have hired a doctor to make decision about our health then the nurse ought to follow doctor's orders, don'tcha think? WOW, this is long...

FRIDAY ~ he came home! we had to get a friend of W's help get him home since he still has the shoulder issue.

I have to say being home is good, but hubby just said at supper, that this laying in bed is already old! he only has about 28 more days!

OH OH and I have thank the lovely ladies at church that kept G every afternoon after cub scout camp! He had a blast and was excited everyday to be going to play somewhere! By the end of the week, he was having friend withdrawal!

Busy Busy week

Last week was busy busy busy ....
Monday ~ Memorial day ~ I got the mowing finished and packed to leave town for the funerals. I usually don't like to leave home so late (6pm) but it was just fine this time. We missed almost all of the holiday traffic and arrived at the hotel just in time to go to bed.
Tuesday ~ We had the visitation/funeral for Hubby's Aunt Clovine. During that funeral our cell phones (that were in the van) were buzzing/ringing like crazy. We'd left W at home to have the oil changed on the Yukon and then drive to meet us. He got it to the jiffy oil change and it wouldn't start! The starter was out! He got it to the mechanic (one we'd never used, worry worry) and got a ride home to get his truck! He made it in time for his granny's visitation at 6pm. Well, other than forgetting his pants at home, he made it fine!

Wednesday ~ Lillian's funeral Both of my boys were pall bearers, along with their other male cousins. G sat with the others and held the door for them as they carried their grandmother to the car. G then held the back of coffin to the grave. I was very impressed with his patience.

We visited with family before heading back home late Wednesday evening.

Thursday ~ G had missed the first day of basketball camp yesterday but he loved camp today. He attended a "Called to Greatness"
basketball camp with former KU/NBA player Wayne Simeon. He had a blast!
I was spent! close to exhaustion, so I rested the rest of Thursday
and then started laundry on Friday!

I promise an update soon!

I just rushed in the door from subbing, I'm waiting for G to get off the bus. I just wanted to let you know that this week has been seriously busy, I am amazed at just how busy and filled up it has gotten.

I have several pictures and several ideas to post but just no time to sit and process it all enough to blog it.

I don't think I've been home more than a few hours (and awake) all week ... amazing! I'm usually more protective of my time than this, but somehow things just got piled into this week. This morning I just wanted to scream when someone called to request that I do some training Friday right smack in the middle of the day! I knew all week that they were trying to arrange the training but seriously from 11:30 to 1:30?

Gotta run now .... only time I could get a haircut!

The Return of the Computer

My computer has landed at home once again. The thunderstorms seems to have arrive just a few hours after the computer got here, so I didn't hook it up (yes, out of fear) that was a couple of days ago. Still raining, still not hooked up! I told you I had PTS (Post Traumatic Syndrome).

I'm going after these mini surge protectors today. You hook them up between the wire and router and then as an extra precaution another on between the router and the computer. I think I'm creating a Fort Know protection.

I have a busy busy weekend so I suppose that I'll be back to regular posting on Monday.
I have tons of picture for G's blog so make sure you head over there after Monday.

update on the medical progress around here!

Little G only had 2 days of school this week (due to end of the first quarter) but missed both of those due to illness! In true G fashion we spent Thursday, thinking about and talking about all the great things he'd missed in those 2 days. As if he could have gone and just decided not to go ... that was not even an option he had a fever and didn't finish his 24 hours without a fever until Thursday, his first day of break! He's regained his health and strength but still has a loose cough.

Hubby is in bed with a sore again, things are looking much better but still have a while to go.

G made it well enough to go have our teeth cleaned yesterday, but we went in again today to get sealants on his teeth SO 2 days 2 trips to the dentist. It's a new dentist and I feel very acquainted now!

I've been getting so easily tired, makes me wonder if I'm next to get sick!?!

ALSO ~ my beloved computer isn't back yet! I was using hubby's laptop while he was at work whenever I wanted ~ well, when he came home this week. We have to share!?! Well, it's more like me hoovering around the bed waiting for him to air on the laptop and me pouncing on it! Today, I finally asked hubby "They would call you IF my computer were fixed wouldn't they!?!"

W is also all sniffley but hasn't got a fever. He's home, well.... he's in the same county as we are and his laundry is here!

Repairman revolving door ~

It seems that we have a revolving door of repairmen minus one.

Yesterday we had the internet man here on top of our house replacing our internet equipment. Really thought he should have waited until a calm wind day .... NOT. They (the schedule department) messed up getting him here on the calm wind day so I wanted internet back so I didn't care that it was blowing 110 mph out there! OH, I should have given you an exaggeration alert before that! Great thing about this I had paid for insurance for the past 3 years that I though was silly and probably a waste of my $2 every month. Not a waste NOW it covered everything.

He replaces everything and then discovers my NEW shiny modem is bad (seems they can be bad from the store), BUT he gets on computer to run the Internet but nothing wireless. I run to Wal-mart, return BAD modem and spin the roulette wheel that I get a good one this time. Yep, hooked it up just minutes ago and I got a good one!

We did discover that the phone problem was/is related to the broken satellite receiver problem. So the phone is fixed ~ cancel repairman.

Now we're waiting on the satellite repairman....wait wait wait.....

Poor W came home last night, to no Internet, and no tv ~ he was thrilled!

Saturday was a blurr.......

Saturday seemed to be filled every minute .....
I slept LATE (9:30am)~
OK in my defense, I'd mowed most of the yard on Friday so my head was all stuffed up so laying in bed was about all I could do!
BUT I got up finished the last little bit of mowing ~
ran in showered ~
got G ready for his swim meet ~
gave hubby instructions about the swim meet ~
ran off to the city ~
watch a couple of games of Volleyball with W ~
enjoyed a lunch at Chipotle's ~
off to Kohl's to shop for W some clothes ~
dropped W back off at the next round of volleyball games ~
got gas ~
went to grocery store ~
rush home.
Arrive home at 4:15, find company has just dropped by (I'll discuss this later**) ~
I unload groceries ~
start a load of laundry
(W wanted to wear his new clothes to the wedding) ~
sit to visit for 2 seconds
but then realize I don't have the wedding gift ready ~
get the gift ready ~
then rush out the door at 4:55
(leaving hubby still chatting with the drop by guest and their 5 children playing with G's stuff) dashing across the field to the wedding.
I arrive just as they're starting down the 'isle'
I did have a nice, relaxing time sitting at the reception visiting and enjoying our neighbors!
**OK, people just dropping by is one of my pet peeves ** take note people, it's just not polite. If you drop by someone's house you need to be mindful of what's going on or the fact that the people you're dropping by might be busy!
Just call before you drop by!

This week in review ... do I really want to?

You know I started this blog to focus on the positive things in my life but still be realistic.... hmmmm that would be difficult this week. This week has been a roller coaster of events!

Sunday evening ~ I was watching tv and all through the evening the news promo were various things but at least one was "tune in to see what Police and the venue are doing to make sure safety at tomorrow night's big concert" Panic set in ... how safe would W be at this concert? I worked myself up in to a REAL Tizzy! What had I done, I'd gotten him tickets right to his death. Yes my tizzy had worked me into THAT place. I texted W and told him that I didn't think the concert was a good idea and I'd changed my mind .."He couldn't go" well, that didn't go over well, He told me I was crazy and things would be fine. I finally got myself into a place that the concert would be fine but the parking lot might be a problem (venue is a great place but on the edge of a questionable part of town). FINALLY the news came on to say ..."only those with tickets would be allowed in the parking lot to help keep the concert from turning into a 'festival' type of event" Shewwww, that made me feel much better! I was calm about him going!

Monday night it was calm around here for the most part...W was at his concert it was over by 11, he turned the correct direction coming out of the event and was in the safe part of town heading home. He later posted 111 pictures from the concert ... He had a GREAT time.

Tuesday was busy for me, a church meeting and then got my hair cut. I got a call to work that morning but because of things already planned I couldn't but got at call for the next day also. So I'd be subbing the next day ~ bad news there .. the teacher's daughter that was sick is a girl is G's class. There is something going around (there's always something going around but it was in G's classroom). This is the night G got hit with the baseball ~ black eye!

Wednesday I worked, it's not easy to sub this early in the school year, the kids simply don't know the rules and aren't really in a routine. This means that the sub has to KNOW the routine and rules. Good news for me I had subbed alot in this teacher's class room last year so I knew the rules and the routine. As I went through the e-nails that evening, there was yet another e-mail from W's college... new instructions about what to do if a student was feeling ill.

Thursday subbed again (little girl still sick). Called W to remind him about his dentist appointment. As I talked to him he sounded terrible and told me that his chest was congested and his head was stopped up. I told him what to get a Wal-mart to clear his head. He went to the dentist, has 3 cavities .. that boy has no enamel on his teeth what so ever! Poor kid! I got a text a 5 that he'd missed his class at 3:30 ... I immediately call him .. He'd gone home from the dentist and went to bed and slept until 5. He told me that he thought he needed to get a thermometer when he went to Wal-mart. By 7:30 he's called to say he has a temp of 101.5. I tell him to read the e-mail from yesterday and gather his things, I'll call our doctor and call him back. Our doctor says to get him home! He feels well enough at that point to drive himself home. He's home by 9pm and taking a long hot shower.

FRIDAY I sub again, leave W sleeping. The class is going great by now, I knew them and they know me! When I get home W's on couch watching TV, no fever but exhausted. I blow my cover by cooking roast beef and potatoes ... If I can do this and work all day, then why can't I do this when I'm home all day?!?! I hear G pushing the answering machine buttons, I hear one from our Credit card's fraud department. hmmmm, how did I not hear that one, someone else had already listened to it, but they didn't do anything about. I then go through the daily e-mails and there is a message from the CC company... I call them! Someone has used our credit card to purchase $1600 for an X box and various purchases from I tunes!! Thankfully we have a great Credit Card Company and they caught it, put a stop on our account. They'll now be investigating.

Saturday morning W mentioned that his truck didn't want to start as he was leaving college. His truck has had this problem alittle all summer but it had gotten worse. I take it in thinking that it's home. Good thing, it acting up in front of the mechanic ~ fuel injector ... $600.

This week ends to end!

Update on this week ~

This week has been so nice ~ G and I have nice quiet evenings at home. For the past 4 years we have been running to sporting events (and I loved every minute of it) so it's nice to have a few weeks of quiet at home routine here. This quiet routine will not last once September gets here!

G has missed W, a couple of days when he'd get in the car he'd ask first thing if I'd talked to W that day. When bedtime hits he gets really missing him. He finally called him on Thursday (G was always too busy to call him any other day ... .missed him but was too busy to call him?!?!). W told him that when he ate dinner now it was like eating at Ryann's (their favorite place to eat) every day, and he'd played slip and slide down a big hill in rain! When G got off the phone he told me that he wants to go to school there too!

I've opened the windows to let the cool air in, I love it! the animals are a bit confused ~ they can hear us in here and they (mostly the cat) just whine at the windows! I wish this weather to last through the fall! think I can get my wish?

3 Strikes your out!

I must say that this day just wasn't one of my best!

First of all it started extremely early ... I'm not even really sure of how early... but there was a thunderstorm. This means that G is awake and scared. He wanted to go downstairs with W. He couldn't ... fill you with that later.

When everyone finally goes back to sleep the alarm goes off ... 6:15AM! Now that I have this cute hair it's early fix your hair time (I'm really loving the hair but not the time it takes to fix it ...especially when it's 6am).

G got up at 6:45 ... I'm not sure he was asleep the entire time I was in the bathroom, but I like to think so.

W had a soccer tournament in town ... so he had a couple of the players over to spend the night (I think as player confinement) Hence G couldn't go down and sleep in his basement, dark room! Around 7am I noticed there wasn't any sound or movement from the basement. They'd set they're alarm for 6:45PM. It was sort of entertaining watching the 3 of them scrabble to get out of here!

G and I left at 7:30 for our church fieldtrip ...only to get there and see that they'd over planned with cars and didn't need me! BUT BUT I'd gotten up at 6:15 to do my hair!! Strike 1

So I'm off to W game. It was fun. W now played for the Alumni and not the HS team. I still cheered for the both sides.

Then I come home only for hubby to send me off to the city for more rock. I finally got W and his buddy to work on the rock wall... they ran out of rock and didn't finish! After driving the distance for the rock (of which they said they had in stock) they don't have it in stock. WHAT BUT WE CALLED TO MAKE SURE YOU HAD IT IN STOCK Strike 2

I finally make it home, where I stay. I'd rented some RED BOX movies yesterday so I sat down to watch "Bride Wars" I wasn't impressed (don't bother) BUT I HADN'T SAT DOWN TO WATCH A MOVIE IN MONTHS ... I WANTED IT TO BE GOOD! Strike 3

I've settled in with a good book, and just about forgotten about all the Strikes ... I'm sure a good night's sleep will erase the day!

tidbit Tuesday

^ W lost his tie from prom .... I paid $42 (12 to rent and 30 to purchase) for the tie. He found the tie in some remote place in the HS last week. Now he has a survivor

^We joined the YMCA and G is so excited. There is a pool and they allow kids on some of the machines. It's very kid friendly.

^the hummingbirds are back. I haven't put out the feeders and don't know if I will. The kitty are just too big!

^our Mr Goodcents closed .... GASP! that was 'our' stop before track meets.

^W's cell phone is dying

^G filled out a Mother's day paper at church on Sunday. One of the things "What is the funniest thing my mother's ever done.....(G's answer) Jump!

^I've got an idea for my front flower bed and no one else seems to be excited!

^We (G and I) signed up for free bowling this summer.

^I tasted a sample at Costco yesterday. It tasted like fried chicken. When the lady told me this I thought really how can sliced chicken taste like fried chicken....but it did!
