Fall Saturday

Last night I sat in the kitchen with Hubby and W while they chatted I made a list of things I wanted to get done today. At one point I was overwhelmed by the urge to strangle them!

Here I was planning all this out side labor and they were discussing which college football games why were going to watch. Just what's wrong with this picture??

W is sick and Hubby is still laid up in bed, that's what's wrong with this picture!

Any way, I love yard work, when the temperature is cool, and today give me just that!

I started out early ~ 7am.

Remember when Saturday mornings were meant for sleeping in? No, I don't really remember those days, probably since I've had children! I can remember one the first Friday nights after I came out of the New Baby fog, thinking, oh, good tomorrow is Saturday I can sleep late....WRONG! that baby didn't care if it was Saturday or not!

Oh, I got sidetracked there! sorry.....

Dropped G off early this morning for a day of Cub Scouting!
They're celebrating Scouting's 100 years. He's going to have alot of fun, and be tired when he gets home. I was so glad I wasn't going.
I then ran to Home Depot to get winterize for the yard. Why does that have to be soooo expensive? I did find some cheap perennials.
Had an impromptu to trip into Target
alone, quiet, leisurely, lovely, meandering....
did you know that you DON'T have to go to the toy section
every time you go to Target? NO, it's not required.
purchased only impulse items!
Then home to work in the yard.
I mowed
I weeded
I planted
I made suspicious discoveries
I fertilized.
I worked up a stink sweat
I showered
I loaded the dishwasher
I folded clothes
I washed more clothes
I worked on Cub awards
I fold more laundry
I discovered I didn't start my planned meal for supper early enough
so now I'm trying to figure out a supper plan again!
and
I blogged!

Yay, a Spring Saturday!!

today was wonderfully busy and full of Spring time activities!

G had a friend over. They played for a few hours before heading off to the traditional Easter Egg hunt at our friends' home. I think I heard Melanie say they hid about 4000 plastic eggs. Our boys (G and his friend) found about 250 eggs between them.

Then I took the friend home and rushed into Wal-mart to 'finish up some shopping'.

Came home.....then had to make a decision.... update computer check book OR mow the first mow of the season! Both were needing to be done, but since little G thinks he's ready to mow he was encouraging for me to mow. He was just convinced that his legs were long enough to mow this year. Side note, remember last year we got a new mower? Well, this new mower's seat is SOOOO far back that I have to scoot around to press on the brake. It will be awhile before little G's legs are long enough for this mower! He was disappointed but then got the ATV out and he was fine!

I then came in fixed supper, Spaghetti.

We colored eggs, only 18 this year so it was fairly quick.

And went to bed!

Mounds of Blueberries

I went Blueberry picking this morning. Maybe I should back up a bit ~

G and I have been trying to go Blueberry picking for several days (since June 17 that's opening day). The "picking report" of the place where we go stated "There are a lot of berries this year but there are more pickers" so they would close the fields until the berries could ripen again. I believe they were "pick out" in 3 hours last Saturday.

Being a person that can go picking during the week I was trying to avoid the crowds and go during the week. I really wanted to go yesterday to beat the crowd but since they were picked out last Saturday they closed for the entire week and reopened the fields this morning. My little co-picker decided that he didn't want to go late last night so I was flying solo for my morning. I got the to fields minutes after they'd opened (7:30am) and the opened fields were packed, and there was a parade of cars still flowing in! They continued to open fields so there were plenty of berries. The bushes were wet (it rained early this morning) but full of berries picked berries for 90 minutes (got about 13 pounds) and then waited in line to check out for 30 minutes before heading home. The line was much longer when I was leaving and cars were still streaming in.

When I got home I made blueberry pancakes! We all love blueberries but these are so tasty. There was a simple joy at being able to pop such a delicious berry in my mouth as I picked. I don't know if you can tell but some of these are HUGE. Some are bigger than my thumb. We'll be enjoying this for along while!

I've checked into planting blueberry bushes. I have to wait until spring time but they seem to be little effort. Remind me come spring!

Getting things done Saturday!

G and I got up early, well G got up at the regular time. I was awaken by the opening of toilet paper in my ear! ? Guess there wasn't any in the bathroom but I still wonder why it had to be opened on the bed, on my pillows? this could very well be a

"Just how can this be?"

G worked on his 550 piece puzzle until I was ready to get up! Trust me I was getting regular updates.

We then started our errands ~ the bank, the library, Home Depot and then the grocery store. This used up our entire morning.

We then came home and got busy doing our springtime chores. G and I washed window screens and put them up. I always have mixed feelings about putting the screens on. They defuse the sunshine so it's not so bright and I really like the bright sun shine, but then I love to open the windows. Guess I can't have both.

I then send W out to mow and G downstairs to put hubby's medical supplies up while I planted a couple of butterfly bushes. I've planted several butterfly bushes last year but we had a puppy last year and I suppose they seemed liked good chew toys!? These plants have a better chance, I hope.

I guess I'd better wrap up this post since the boys' are about to figure out that Mom's out of chores.

Saturday of Hoops

Our Saturdays these days are full of Basketball.

The morning started out with W's game -- he was excited because this opponent was suppose to be worst in the league. We we got there W's team was 10 points down! (gasp) A couple of their players got the time wrong so there weren't any subs until they showed up (the last 10 minute's of the game). W's team won by 4 in the last few minute's. W would like to let you know that he made the shot in the picture for 3 points!
Next was G's game and it's 2nd half of the season so they are moving into learning more rules. In the past they have just played on when the ball goes out of bounds but starting this week they now have out of bounds (well, most of the time). G's game has improved this season. He can be quite the rebounder when he wants to be.
