Scary Scary Scary moment for W

I've always told W that he is just like me! I always knew it was scary that this could actually be true. What 19 year old boy wants to think he's just like his mother?!?!?

Today it was proved. G and I had gone to get birthday cards for Hubby's birthday, while W went later on his own. Out of all the birthday cards we could have picked ......

We picked the same card!
Funny, funny, funny for me
Scary, scary, scary for W

working with Virginia

I have been given as a Christmas gift to Virginia!

Virginia is the mother in law of a friend of mine. Virginia is 85ish (shhhh she'd kill me if she knew I knew this number and that I was telling it), she broken her hip last summer. She doesn't want to slow down, but in reality is not able to keep up with her house. Her daughter in law lives across the street from her so Virginia calls her every few minutes (daily) for help. This is driving the daughter in law crazy.....thus I've been given as a gift by the daughter in law to help both her and Virginia!

It's a slow process of getting Virginia to tell me what she wants done. She has let me sweep and mop her floors, dust, do laundry and run the sweeper. Her grandson had spilled her jewelry drawer a couple of weeks ago, so we sit and match earrings when she won't let me do anything else.

When I told the daughter in law that we sit for a long time looking for earring matches she just started to laugh. Not knowing what was so funny about this story, I asked .......

Seems when they (Virginia's son) moved the jewelry box (it's a big jewelry stand, you know like the free standing piece of furniture), they just stood it up in the back of a truck, turned a corner and the whole thing tipped over, earrings spilling all over the truck bed. Some of the earrings ended up in the street! So now I sit trying to find matches that I know are not there, but can't tell Virginia!

The doctor released Virginia to drive this week. She decided that she probably won't go driving alone the first time, she'll take someone with her! I instantly felt a target on my back!

I immediately called the son .... "if you take your mother driving for the first time I'll never tell her that you lost all of her earring matches! I'll just sit and search of earring matches all day long!"

Unfortunately, the weather turned bad and neither of us have worry about Virginia driving ....YET!

Phones News .....

Sunday Thought

Today I sat in our church meeting fuming about something that had occurred in a meeting just minutes before. Just fuming!

When G came in (he'd ridden with another family while I was in my meeting), everything started well, but then he did it. He does this every Sunday, so today wasn't any different.

He hung on me. He doesn't lean his head gently on my arm, he grabs it with both hands, and with his full weight he hung there. It either tugs my sleeve completely off my shoulder, or it rips my skin down my arm. I kid you not, it's painful. I've asked him not to do every Sunday in his short life of 10 years, but every Sunday it happens again!

This Sunday since I was already fuming and trying not to take it out on him. Even though my shirt was hanging half way down my arm, I decided I'd distract myself and not correct him once again. I decided that I'd read the words of a Hymn. I'd let the Lord pick the hymn by just flipping to a page and let that by my message.

Unbelievable but true this was the Hymn I flipped to ......

I believe the Lord knows me,
knows my struggles and
has a sense of humor!

News Blotter

There seemed to be a jewel in this past weekend's paper!

"On the Beat"

The following incident was taken from a collection of *** county's Sheriff's office incident reports.

"Two ***county Sheriff's office deputies were dispatched to a residence south east of ****(town) at 2:16 am Aug 13 in response to a report of a subject refusing to leave the home.

Upon arrival, the deputies spoke with the reporting party; who was identified as the subject's girlfriend. She said her boyfriend was drunk and would not leave the area, according to the Sheriff's office report.

After determining that the man lives in the home the deputies informed the woman that they could not ask her boyfriend to leave unless he had hit or threatened her. They suggested she go to bed and leave him alone.

The deputies then left and found the subject passed out in a lawn chair from consuming too many alcoholic beverages. There was an empty 30 pack of beer in the grass behind him, and he was snoring upon their arrival, according to the report."

the Good and the Bad

GOOD ~ Enrolling only one child in school only took less than 10 minutes (in comparison to over an hour with 2)
BAD ~ it's HOT, once again I'm reminded at how spoiled I was by the wonderful weather this summer
GOOD ~ only 1 week until G starts school (I'm sorry but it's true I'm counting down)
BAD ~ G threw his glasses today not only broke them but lost one of the lens
GOOD ~ Walmart is having a special on kid's glasses
BAD ~ We ran out of rock for the garage
GOOD ~ we have all of G's school supplies
BAD ~ Enrolling only one child in school cost half as much (Of course I'm not counting all the money I've already spend on W)
GOOD but could be BAD ~ it takes a week (hopefully less) to get new glasses at Walmart
GOOD ~ Got a great new recipe that I can't wait to try this week end

Oh, good I ended with 2 GOODS!

OH and this made it all GOOD ~

My new favorite hang out!

Today as I walked the grocery isles. I stopped in breakfast food isle to restock (after spring break all the cupboards are bare). As I was reaching for a box of Dinosaur egg oatmeal. An slightly older lady (with a baby in her cart) asked me "what do kids eat?" I said that mine liked these (dinosaur eggs) and showed her some other types they like. She motioned to the baby in her cart and said, "she has decided that she's done with baby food and gran'ma doesn't know what to feed her."

I mentioned some other things that my boys had liked (yogurt), but when she mentioned some 'baby yogurt' I said something like "when my boys were little they didn't have all that 'baby stuff'.

She turned to me, and stammered but finally said, "Can I ask how just how old you are?"

I said "45" (I didn't think it was too mature to say 44 2/3)

"OH, my you don't look it" Yay, I'll say that again ... "oh, my you don't look it" again ... "oh,my you don't look it" again.......

I'll be hangin' out right there in front of the Dinosaur Egg Oatmeal all week!

Especially around April 25 when my oldest baby turns 18.... yep, that's where I'll be! If you need me I think it's Isle 5.

AND NO she wasn't blind! I know some of you are thinking that. I'm sure she had PERFECT vision!

You've got Mail LaShawnda!

Thursday afternoon, I was feeling springing so I changed my computer wall paper to pretty sping flowers. I stumbled on to the the ~ customize "You've got mail" message. So I changed it to a very nice "You've got mail, Shelly".

Well, when I return from running errands Friday afternoon, I come inside, settle in my comfy desk chair, sign on to the Internet, waiting to hear my lovely, "you've got mail, Shelly" message when I heard...... "you've got mail LaShawnda"

SAY WHAT?! Just How can this be? Things are just not right, LaShawnda?? who is LaShawnda?

then I hear giggling, no I hear snickering. W has been home alone all morning, using his time ever so wisely trying to find the most ethic name he could to change my lovely custom"you've got mail". I have to admit that I did bust up laughing (laughed hard enough to cry at the message).

Then it was priceless again when this morning I signed on hubby was in the room and the look on his face and his comment "Who in the world is LaShawnda"

Make'em Laugh

Last week our local PBS station ran a series of shows called Make 'em Laugh. It was so funny, it showed the laughter throughout the years, from Buster Keeton all the way to our current day Jon Stewart.

A couple of weeks ago W and I were discussing Steven Cobert's comments of Kanye West and his attempt to have his album out sell Kanye's on Itunes. Very funny stuff!

W and I tried to pick our favorite funny people, we both agreed on Steven Colbert, Steve Carell (did you see the hour long "The Office" last night after the super bowl?), and Tina Fey, but then we were stuck for our 4th person (where we got the idea we needed 4 people I don't know). I like Seth Meyers from SNL weekend report, but is he really the best guy for our foursome?

Who would be your 4some of funny people?
Hmmm, not so easy is it?
Go ahead comment with your favorite funny people!
